New GM on Board at Significant Moment in Property Renovation and Rebranding

MADISON, Wis. (March 5, 2013) – The first key position has been filled at the former Clearwaters Hotel in Marshfield, Wis. Cory Latourell was named general manager and is quickly immersing herself in the fast-track renovation and rebranding of the hotel, with the property set to reopen in late summer. This full-service independent hotel located at 2700 S. Central Ave. is owned by Marshfield Hospitalities, LLC, with redevelopment and management duties assigned to IDM Group, LLC, Madison, Wis.

Latourell brings high-level operations and training know-how to the post, having spent the majority of her career in positions of increasing responsibility with Wyndham Hotel Group’s senior training team. She was also instrumental in new brand initiatives for 7,000+ hotels under the Wyndham brand. Most recently she was with MphasiS, an HP Company, serving as senior project manager on a property management system project for Wyndham. She holds an associate degree in Hotel Management, and is both a Certified Hospitality Administrator and Certified Hospitality Educator, designations earned through The American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute.

While Latourell has enviable national-caliber experience to her name, her career in hospitality was actually cemented early on with her parent’s purchase of a small inn in Racine, Wis. Latourell was hands-on in all aspects of helping operate the family-owned property, from reservations and housekeeping to marketing and staff management. “The hotel was a fit for me instantly,” said Latourell. “Over the years I’ve been involved in operations for a wide range of properties, both small, independent hotels as well as large hotels under corporate flags, and that collective experience has given me an invaluable perspective as to what works in creating a successful guest experience.” Latourell went on to say that guest service is her passion and “when you do that well, everything else follows suit.” While her work has taken her from one end of the United States to the other, she has called Marshfield home for six years now.

The Marshfield property has 99 rooms, nine of which will be extended stay suites; expansive meeting and banquet space; a restaurant and lounge; and outdoor pool. The reopening plan calls for extensive renovation of the rooms and suites along with a significant transformation for the restaurant as well as the meeting space, which is considered among the best in the region.

“Cory’s training credentials sold us on her,” said Becky Rogers, Director of Hotel Operations for IDM Group. “That caliber of background with Wyndham is going to go a long way in elevating the hotel and the guest experience. We are so fortunate she’s with us.”

The next key positions to be filled will be that of director of sales and food & beverage director. As part of the rebranding of the hotel and restaurant, there will be an announcement of the new name for the property along with a preview of guest room designs in the coming weeks.

When reopened, this independently owned hotel is expected to be the lead choice in the market for corporate and association meetings, business travelers, hospital and clinic travelers, wedding celebrations and special events. It will also provide a much-needed full-service experience for weekend leisure visitors to the area. Its south side location near the new Hwy. 10 bypass makes it especially convenient to access. When fully staffed, the hotel will employ upwards of 100 people, including both full-time and part-time positions.
