Founded in 1869, Libby, McNeill & Libby began in Chicago as a maker of canned brined corned beef. The company quickly grew and expanded with building new plants around the Midwest, including Marshfield. By 1921 the company had several factories throughout Wisconsin, many being reported as “pickling stations.” The company was a staple in the Marshfield community for over 20 years and although the factory is long gone, the rich history of Libby, McNeill & Libby is still present in the Marshfield Community.
To celebrate this unique history, Libby McNeill’s, located in Hotel Marshfield is now a local gathering
place and a welcome respite for travelers seeking a friendly atmosphere and a menu complete with comfort food that includes a small nod to the pickling plant’s famous history.
